Sneak Peek: Unitized Body Analysis and Repair Planning Course

Chief’s Unitized Body Analysis and Repair Planning  is designed for entry level and experienced structural repair technicians who require training in unibody vehicle analysis and repair planning.

Unibody designs are lighter than their body-on-frame counterparts, which translates to increases in both performance and fuel economy – a must for manufacturers to meet  more stringent CAFÉ standards. With the widespread use of unibody designs, the ability of your shop to correctly handle repairs is paramount. The unibody is designed to crumple and bend in specific ways, allowing the kinetic energy of a crash to travel through the car’s body and around the passenger cell. Unfortunately, this tends to make repair of the vehicle very difficult as the body and frame are a single unit. Making sure your shop is prepared with a Chief Goliath frame rack  or a Globaljig Presented by Chief bench system like the Super Rotax is simply not enough. Your techs will need to understand how to utilize these tools to perform the repairs. 

The Unitized Body and Repair Planning course will play a key role in helping develop your shop and your technician’s ability to perform repairs. In the course, technicians will learn the fundamental principles of Collision Theory, measuring, analyzing, repair planning, and setup for unibody vehicles to maximize both repair quality and profitability.

  • Identification of internal and external forces that occur during a collision that cause structural misalignment in unibody vehicles.
  • Use of Collision Theory and basic measuring procedures to measure and analyze collision damage to unibody vehicles.
  • Developing an accurate repair plan based on this analysis.
  • Using the repair plan to set up a collision damaged vehicle in preparation for realignment.
  • Actual “real world” case studies of collision damaged unibody vehicles.
