Force Behind the Lift: Julie Moore
When you think of a credit specialist, images of vast call centers and thick accented operators come to mind. Maybe someone sitting in a glass office determining how much they think you can afford when buying a home. A Rotary credit specialist however, may be as much a part of your team as your lead mechanic. They analyze the numbers and payments as well as keep accounts organized, sort of a “Lift Accountant.” You wear many hats, as a Credit Specialist, and Julie probably has a hat for each day of the month. Today we talk with Julie and learn a little more about how she works to keep your shop stocked with lifts.
Q: How long have you been with Rotary Lift?
Julie: I’ve been with Rotary almost 2 years. When I started, no one could pronounce my last name because it’s German (Breivogel). I got married 2 months after starting, so Moore was much easier to spell and say for everyone!
Q: What do you enjoy about your job?
Julie: I love my boss and my coworkers. They push me to be a better employee and person. I’ve been able to gain friendships with them outside of work as well. I enjoy coming to work because I love what I do and interacting with my customers daily. I love to help and solve any issue that may come my way. I’m always up for a challenge.
Q: What does a typical work day consist of?
Julie: Being in credit, you wear many different hats. We make sure payments are applied appropriately, set up new customers, and maintain their accounts. I’m also what you would call the “Sales Tax Guru.” I handle all drop shipment sales tax paperwork and issues to ensure they’re charged appropriately.
Q: What is one of the biggest challenges to your job?
Julie: At Rotary we work with shops that have 3 employees all the way up to 3000. Being able to switch your approach when talking to an owner/mechanic or to the head of accounting takes a little finesse, and is what makes this job so challenging and fun.
Q: During your work career or personal life what accomplishment are you most proud of?
Julie: I’d say playing collegiate volleyball. Volleyball has always been a passion of mine and I wanted to play beyond high school. I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship and play for Ball State University, a D1 school in Indiana. I could not have done it without the support of my family and friends. It definitely made me a stronger person and would do it all over again if possible!
Q: What is one fun fact about you that people may not know?
Julie: I can play the piano. I took lessons when I was a younger, and still play every now and then.
Q: Are you a music person or a sports person?
Julie: Both!! My favorite teams are Purdue Boilermakers, Indianapolis Colts, & St. Louis Cardinals. I’ve been coaching volleyball on and off for the past 10 years. I currently coach the Madison Junior High 7th grade team. I love that I get to share my love for the sport and being in the gym is a bonus.
For music, I’m an all-genre kind of person. It really depends on what mood I am in. My two favorites are Country and Hip-Hop. I’m an old soul, so I love the older country.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?
Julie: I Love to play volleyball, bowl, cook, anything 4-H related, as well as spending time with friends, family, and my dogs. Traveling is another big thing I love to do. Any chance I get, I’m always up for an adventure!
Q: If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be? Why?
Julie: My husband and I actually already have a lift – SPOA10. My mother-in-law worked at Rotary for 40+ years and retired before I ever started working here. He wanted one because it was much easier walking under the car, than lying under the car to change the oil or perform other vehicle maintenance. Plus, it was much safer than a floor jack.
