Force Behind the Lift: Chelsea Ebley

Being the World’s Most Trusted Lift is a statement we take great pride in. Since Rotarys are sold pretty much anywhere there are vehicles on the road, to ensure we can help our customers, we need to be able to communicate with them. So, enter Chelsea Ebley, our International Sales Specialist or Especialista en Ventas Internacionales.

Chelsea is our resident Spanish guru, which means she has to be able to wear many hats. Whether it be working with a customer or distributor in South America, proof reading a Spanish owner’s manual, or helping one of our employee’s kids with their pronunciation, she’s the one to see. So lets take a few minutes to get to know the person who sometimes orders a hamburguesa con queso instead of cheeseburger at McDonalds.  

Q: How long have you been with Rotary Lift?

Chelsea: I have only been with Rotary a short time. I am from this area and knew about Rotary, but had no idea just how large and involved the company was. An international lift company based right in Madison is pretty cool.

Q: What do you enjoy about your job?

Chelsea: I’m familiar with order entry, and the best part so far has been learning the new system because I haven’t used anything like it before.  There are a couple of others newer employees as well and I really appreciate that we’ve been in this learning process together. 

Q: What is your work background in? 

Chelsea: Pretty much every job I’ve had was somehow related to Customer Service, and I’ve found I’m good at it.  At my previous job I was doing almost the same thing as I am here and I was able to make great relationships with customers.  But more than anything else – Spanish is my thing!  I taught high school Spanish here in Madison a few years ago, and I’ve always dreamed of having a job where I could speak Spanish and travel.  Working here I’ll be handling export orders and building relationships with our Spanish-speaking customers in Latin and South America.    

Q: What is one thing about working where you do that people may not know? 

Chelsea: There are several versions of the same lift and lots of parts and accessories, each with a different item or part number, so it’s super easy to key in something wrong.  I am very glad that people have been patient while we get the hang of the position.

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges of your job?

Chelsea: I’m only starting out, so really everything so far has been a lot to take in and remember.  Although I’m sure I haven’t even started to realize some of the much more challenging aspects of the job, however I am very excited to learn. 

Q: During your work career and personal life what are you most proud of? 

Chelsea: I’m most proud of the fact that I stuck to my dreams all along!  Since I was little I’ve said I wanted to learn every language I could and travel to as many countries as possible.  The first chance I got, I took off – not knowing anyone – to live and go to college in Mexico, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.  Then I had a chance to visit Spain, and was able to travel to France while I was there.  My sister and I began teaching ourselves Japanese and planned a trip to Japan.  I had actually just returned from Japan the day before I started work here.  So if you’re counting that’s four countries and 2 languages I’ve marked off my list in just the last few years!  I am proud that I can say I’ve never once doubted what I wanted to do. 

Q: What is one fun fact about you that people may not know? 

Chelsea: I’ve ridden dirt bikes since I was about eight years old.  That was always something fun that my dad and I enjoyed spending time together doing. I am also a huge Harry Potter fan! How huge? Well, I have read all 7 books, 8 times each! I am also a big Star Wars nerd and actually tried to learn Huttese, which is the language spoken by Jabba the Hut, for those of you who haven’t seen the movie over 100 times.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work? 

Chelsea: My boyfriend and I try to go camping at as many of the state parks as we can.  I also really enjoy gardening and working to make my yard pretty.  We love going to some of the historic drive-in movie theaters that are around the area. I am also a huge HGTV junky and love “Fixer Upper” and “House Hunters.”   Also, I love to travel any chance I get – whether that’s in the states or outside of the country.   

Q: Are you a music person or a sports person?

Chelsea: I’d say I’m more about music than I am sports.  I was a cheerleader all of Middle and High School, but I never really got into playing a sport of my own.  I enjoy all kinds of music, but Metallica might be one of my all-time favorites. 

Q: If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be? Why? 

Chelsea: I’d get one of our in-ground SmartLifts™.  It’s low profile design means its out of the way when not in use.  I’d let my dad use it even though he has his own Rotary Lift.  But mostly I’d use it to lift my Jeep to rotate my tires.  I might have to go buy myself another Jeep if I had a Rotary Lift just so I could put another (maybe taller!) lift kit under it.
