Sneak Peek: Full Frame Analysis and Repair
Close your eyes and visualize a huge traffic jam. What vehicles do you see? More than likely it was riddled with sedans, minivans or small hybrids. Did you picture any pickup trucks or full size SUV’s? Why not? The number one selling vehicle in the United States for the last 7 years has been a pickup truck, specifically the Ford F-150 and many of those years the Chevy Silverado came in second. This means there are trucks on the road, a lot, and your shop needs to be able to service them. You need racks that can handle their size, tools geared toward working on frames and technicians capable of making the correct repairs.
Though frame construction may not be the norm for sedans, it is without a doubt the most common for trucks and SUVs. Just as you don’t work on a diesel motor the same as a gasoline, you don’t repair a framed vehicle the same as a unibody. Chief University’s Full Frame Analysis and Repair Planning class can get your technicians the skills and knowledge they need to service the most common vehicles on the road today.
This 2-day interactive class is designed for entry level and experienced structural repair technicians who require training in full frame vehicle analysis and repair. The course is a prerequisite and builds up to the “Advanced Full Frame Repair” technician’s class, also available from Chief University.
In this course, technicians will learn the fundamental principles of Collision Theory, measuring, analyzing, repair planning, and setup for full frame vehicles to maximize both repair quality and profitability. Some key “hands on” learning activities will include:
- Identification of internal and external forces that occur during a collision that causes structural misalignment in full frame vehicles.
- Use of Collision Theory and basic measuring procedures to measure and analyze collision damage in pickups and sport utility vehicles.
- Developing an accurate repair plan based on this analysis.
- Using the repair plan to set up a collision damaged vehicle in preparation for realignment.
- Actual “real world” case studies of collision damaged pickups and SUVs.
An investment in your technicians is an investment in your shop’s future. The best trained techs provide the best repairs. And when you work in an industry that goes through frequent transitions and adjustments, that training needs to be ongoing. Chief University is dedicated to providing up-to-date technician training, on the latest industry advancements, with a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on learning.
