The Force Behind The Lift – Meet Harvey Wilson
Webster defines Quality as: “how good or bad something is”.
Quality should be a measure of how long you’re still using a product. Older Rotary Lifts are still in use for a good reason, quality. This force posting takes a look at the Quality Control Facilitator of Rotary, Mr. Harvey Wilson.
Being with the company for 38 years says something about the quality people we have at Rotary. Like our lifts, their long lasting quality over time speaks volumes.
Q: How long have you been with Rotary Lift?
Harvey: When I started with Rotary Lift in 1977 we were a small company. We had less than 100 employees. 38 years later we’ve grown into an amazing company that still cares about the product they produce. I’m glad to be part of the quality control that keeps us #1 in the industry.
Q: What do you enjoy about your job?
Harvey: I work with a great group of people. Our company pays attention to the needs and concerns of its employees. We’re all here to help with any questions that may come up. We are all part of a team to serve each other and our customers. We work with one end goal, provide the best possible lifts.
Q: What is your work background in?
Harvey: I work in quality control. I get to closely work with customer service to process and analyze return goods. All incoming inspections are overseen to make sure the very best parts make their way into our products. I also get to help assist where needed, ensuring everything is running smooth on the factory floor.
Q: What is one thing about working in where you do that people may not know?
Harvey: After 38 years I’ve held many positions with the company. I feel I have a good understanding of the operations, so I can help with anything that might come up as an issue. My focus is receiving inspections, my goal is making sure we have quality parts that live up to the Rotary Lift name, and we do!
Q: During your work career or personal life what are you most proud of?
Harvey: I have a great family that provides me with the support I need to make my life complete. I am very proud of the many years that I’ve been able to work for a company that gives back to the employees and the community that I live in.
Q: What is one fun fact about you that people may not know?
Harvey: I enjoy remodeling houses. You could say I like making something better out of the current.
Rotary: We’d expect nothing less in our Quality Control Guy, always make it better!
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?
Harvey: Spending time with my family and hanging out with my friends. One of the most enjoyable things I do is riding my Harley Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle. It is quite relaxing to ride and enjoy the freedom.
Q: Are you a music person or a sports person?
Harvey: Favorite sport has to be deer hunting! I always schedule two weeks’ vacation during deer season in November. I love to play golf with my son. Enjoy watching IU basketball, Bengals football and NASCAR racing.
Q: If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be?
Harvey: Come to my home and you’ll find a smartlift® in my garage! When we built our house I knew I wanted a lift in my garage. I use the lift to work on my 76 Corvette and 68 Camaro. Family and friends occasionally bring their vehicles over to check the underside out. I’m very proud to have a lift in my garage. I am very proud to be part of the Rotary Lift team.
Rotary: We’re proud of your commitment to the company Harvey, thanks for the interview!
